Responsibilities

JOB PURPOSE

The Pricing & Structuring Analyst supports the growth and optimization of Pattern Energy’s renewable energy portfolio through pricing, valuation, market analytics, risk analysis, and deal structuring support for power, capacity, renewable energy certificates, and power purchase agreement transactions. This role partners cross-functionally with Asset Management, Trading, Origination, Market Fundamentals, Risk, Finance, Legal, Operations, Grid Integration, and Enterprise Technology to evaluate commercial opportunities, portfolio exposures, hedge strategies, and data-driven recommendations for business stakeholders.

 

Key Accountabilities

  • Support pricing, valuation, and deal structuring for structured power transactions, including physical and financial hedges, PPAs, capacity products, RECs, and other environmental attributes.
  • Analyze market risks, including energy, basis, shape, congestion, weather, optionality, volumetric exposure, liquidity, and renewable intermittency.
  • Build and maintain risk-adjusted pricing, revenue forecasting, hedge effectiveness, scenario analysis, and portfolio optimization models aligned with approved methodologies, portfolio strategy, and risk appetite.
  • Analyze forward markets, ISO/RTO data, nodal pricing, renewable generation shapes, weather-driven impacts, and portfolio performance to identify material risks, changes, and optimization opportunities.
  • Support risk management and hedge strategy analysis for power, capacity, and environmental markets.
  • Partner with Enterprise Technology and commercial stakeholders to define requirements and improve analytics tools, dashboards, reporting infrastructure, ETRM workflows, pricing automation, reporting transparency, and data quality.
  • Translate complex market data and risk drivers into practical commercial insights and recommendations for internal stakeholders.

Qualifications

Experience/Qualifications/Education Required

Educational and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Energy Management, or a related field.
  • At least two years of relevant experience in power markets, commercial analytics, trading, origination, risk management, asset management, energy structuring, or a related analytical field.
  • Working knowledge of U.S. wholesale power markets, ISO/RTO operations, forward markets, congestion, ancillary services, and settlement mechanics.
  • Experience supporting pricing of energy transactions, hedges, PPAs, renewable products, retail supply, or asset-backed commercial structures.
  • Strong quantitative modeling skills, including the ability to analyze and synthesize large, complex data sets quickly and accurately.
  • Proficiency with Excel and at least one analytics tool such as Python, SQL, R, VBA, Power Query, Tableau, Power BI, or Alteryx.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate analytical results clearly and effectively.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize work, and support ad hoc analysis on a regular basis.

 

Additional Requirements

Skills & Ability:

  • Preferred experience in one or more of PJM, ERCOT, CAISO, MISO, or SPP.
  • Experience supporting renewable generation, battery storage, hybrid assets, or load-serving obligations.
  • Familiarity with RECs, renewable portfolio standard compliance, carbon products, and other environmental attribute markets.
  • Exposure to ETRM platforms, preferably Allegro or an equivalent system.
  • Experience with weather risk, load forecasting, renewable intermittency, shape risk, or convex exposure analysis.

 

The expected starting pay range for this role is $80,000 - $108,000 USD. This range is an estimate and base pay may be above or below the ranges based on several factors including but not limited to location, work experience, certifications, and education. In addition to base pay, Pattern’s compensation program includes a bonus structure for full-time employees of all levels.
