Responsibilities

JOB PURPOSE

The Project Controller supports project controls, cost management, forecasting, and performance reporting for renewable energy capital projects. This role ensures accurate tracking of project budgets, commitments, cash flow, and schedule performance across the project lifecycle for all EPC projects.

The position works closely with project management, engineering, procurement, construction, and finance teams to support successful delivery of renewable energy projects.


Key Accountabilities

The key responsibilities will include as a minimum the following:

  • Support the administration of EPC and major contract agreements to ensure financial compliance, budget alignment, change management and effective cost control across capital projects.
  • Track commitments, change orders, invoices, and payment applications while supporting accurate cost reporting and claims administration.
  • Maintain project controls systems, preparing project reports and dashboards for internal/external stakeholders, ensuring data accuracy and consistency.
  • Support project financing activities including financial close support, lender reporting, funding requests, and cash flow tracking.
  • Support in establishing and maintaining project budgets, cost baselines, cost control, cash flow forecasts, and contingency tracking throughout the project life cycle
  • Basic understanding of capability/maturity assessments
  • Perform variance analysis and support identification of cost and risks, including recommendations for mitigation.
  • Maintain earned value management (EVM) and KPI tracking activities.
  • Coordinate with multiple stakeholders to support financial compliance and capital forecasting
  • Apply understanding of construction contracts, commercial terms, and project governance processes.
  • Understanding principals of work breakdown structures and the associated activities, logic and progress
  • Experience working on major capital projects/programs with a familiarity on activities, stage gate process and management
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and support continuous improvement initiatives related to reporting, controls, digital solutions and data management.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Finance, and Project Management teams to support integrated project controls delivery.

Qualifications

Experience/Qualifications/Education

Educational Experience

  • Minimum 3–6 years of construction project controls experience within EPC, infrastructure, or major capital projects.
  • Degree qualification or equivalent in Construction Management, Engineering, Finance, Quantity Surveying,  or   related field

 

Additional Requirements

  • Good understanding of project controls principles, including cost control, forecasting, earned value management (EVM), and project performance reporting.
  • Strong analytical and cost control skills.
  • Experience within renewable energy, infrastructure, or energy sectors is desirable.
  • Professional certifications (PMP, CCP, RICS, PQS) considered beneficial.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills

 

Technical Skills

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and MS Office suite.
  • Experience with ERP and project management systems (e.g., Oracle, Power BI, D365, InEight) preferred.

 

The expected starting pay range for this role is $90,000 - $120,000 USD. This range is an estimate and base pay may be above or below the ranges based on several factors including but not limited to location, work experience, certifications, and education. In addition to base pay, Pattern’s compensation program includes a bonus structure for full-time employees of all levels.
