Responsibilities

Job Purpose 

The Insurance and Risk Management Analyst will support the Director of Insurance and Risk Management on all aspects of corporate insurance programs. Responsibilities will include compilation of underwriting information and coverage placement, claims administration, contract review, loss forecasting, and analysis to assist in loss mitigation. The Analyst will also oversee insurance certificate tracking / ISN system variance reviews and support the Director of Insurance and Risk Management with insurance financing considerations and compliance.

Key Accountabilities

  • Responses to requests from underwriters or adjusters be timely, complete, and accurate.
  • The following reflects management’s definition of essential functions for this job but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned. Management may assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time, as necessary.

  • Works collaboratively with the Director in the renewal marketing process (Corporate / office / renewable power generation project insurance placements to include Property, Casualty, Marine Cargo, and Directors and Officers liability renewals. Etc/), including preparation of all necessary applications, submissions, proposals, and presentations.

  • Works with the Risk Management organization as a key contributor to the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) function, identifying and evaluating company key risks as well as implementing and monitoring strategies to offset risks by providing useful information to stakeholders.

  • Claims management and resolution for construction and operating projects: tracks and analyses claim data and works with our brokerage and insurance carrier partners to facilitate the timely closure of claims.

  • Performs risk analysis duties not limited to compilations of underwriting information and coverage placement, loss forecasting, and analysis to promote maximum protection of our assets and assist in loss mitigation.

  • Reviews the accuracy of all policies, certificates of insurance, changes/endorsements, audits, invoices, and other documents.

  • Assists with day-to-day email, phone discussions, requests for policies, endorsements, audits, certificates, and/or auto ID cards, accounting/billing, and coordination of claims/loss control services in coordination with our brokerage partner.

  • Attends any required training sessions, courses, etc., to maintain up-to-date skills and licensing requirements. Attends and conducts carrier meetings/functions as requested.

  • Maintains an appropriate level of confidentiality and follows company policies and procedures.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Experience/Qualifications/Education Required

Educational Experience

  • Business degree, including but not limited to Risk Management.

Required Work Experience

  • Candidates should have at least 3 or more years of risk management experience in either brokerage, risk management, or underwriting industry.
  • Understanding of fundamental insurance terms and ability to apply that knowledge to company exposures.
  • Excellent people skills and ability to represent the company with third parties in a professional way.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional departments and groups.

Technical Skills

  • Proficient knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) with an emphasis on using PowerPoint presentations to clearly communicate messaging to all levels of management and Excel to analyse complex data.
  • Mathematical/analytical skills: Basic aptitude in arithmetic, and ability to present numerical data effectively when needed.

Additional Skills

  • CPCU / ARM designation a plus.
  • Experience in the power generation or energy industry is a plus.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment.

 

The expected starting pay range for this role is $80,000 - $108,000 USD. This range is an estimate and base pay may be above or below the ranges based on several factors including but not limited to location, work experience, certifications, and education. In addition to base pay, Pattern’s compensation program includes a bonus structure for full-time employees of all levels.
