Responsibilities

JOB PURPOSE

Area Director. Responsibilities include Area oversight of operation and maintenance of a group of assets, leading a team of Facility Managers and staff to meet the various obligations required for power generation at Pattern operating sites.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

 

  • The Area Director is directly responsible for safe, reliable, and compliant operations for a "cluster" of sites
  • Provide oversight for all facility staff, to include coaching and mentoring.
  • Perform all aspects of managing personnel, to include but not limited to hiring, salary recommendations, performance evaluations, promotions, development, disciplinary action, and if necessary terminations.
  • Drive the Next Level safety & compliance culture by facilitating safe work practices, hazard recognition, risk assessment, peer to peer feedback, and proper use of human performance tools. Meeting all compliance requirements for the operating facilities.
  • Meet or exceed production and financial budgets. Work closely with Asset Management and Accounting to manage P & L including budget planning, management and reporting.
  • Understand local market conditions and operate to maximize wind, solar or fuel source. Work with Power Marketing to positively affect gross revenue margin.
  • Work with Asset Management, the Operations Control Center, and Power Marketing to schedule planned maintenance outages during low revenue impact windows.
  • Monitor facility performance; investigate and correct abnormal conditions to maximize the value of the asset.
  • Positively work across various teams and departments in order to achieve corporate objectives and goals.
  • Enable Facility Managers to meet reporting requirements for management and other stakeholders, including the coordination and calculation of monthly regulatory, financial and production figures.
  • Coordinate and plan the transition from construction to operation of new sites, to include training of new personnel, setup of new vendors, and implementation of O&M tools, standards, and safe work practices.
  • Support and drive both Corporate and Operational KPI’s, ensuring Pattern’s success and competitiveness in the marketplace.
  • Direct and review Area goals and performance metrics and track success.
  • Balance and support facility public relations and community interactions.
  • Maintain regulatory & reliability compliance with all Provincial, Country and local regulations and associated permits. Ensure obligations are met using the Pattern systems.
  • Lead major initiatives as assigned by Senior Director or Vice President of Operations

Qualifications

Required Work Experience

 

  • At least 5+ years in the Wind and/or Solar Industry
  • Previous Leadership & Management in power generation or military operations
  • Basic project management and computer proficiency

 

Education

 

  • BA/BS in engineering, business; related field or commensurate experience

 

Additional Requirements

 

  • Ability to travel frequently (> 50%)
  • Ability to climb turbine towers (> 250ft)
  • Candidates must be willing and able to manage high workloads in potentially stressful conditions while maintaining professional, non-confrontational behaviour and demonstrating the utmost ethical values.
  • Candidates must reside in the Province of Ontario

The expected starting pay range for this role is $137,000 - $170,000 CAN. This range is an estimate, and base pay may be above or below the ranges based on several factors, including but not limited to location, work experience, certifications, and education. In addition to base pay, Pattern’s compensation program includes a bonus structure for full-time employees of all levels.
