Responsibilities

Job Purpose 


The Lead Revenue Accountant will oversee the accounting and billing for various revenue arrangements at our operating wind and solar projects. This includes invoice preparation and any dispute of invoice. This role ensures accurate and timely analytics and reporting and adherence to accounting policy. The incumbent will work closely with the Accounting Managers, Technical Accounting, based in San Francisco and Houston, as well as individuals from other groups such as Asset Management, Energy Management, FP&A and Performance Management.

 

Key Accountabilities

  • Support the preparation and review of monthly invoices for offtakers, ensuring accuracy in billing and timely resolution of disputes and true-ups.
  • Support the month-end close process related to revenue accounting, including preparation and review of journal entries for PPA revenue, ISO settlements, transmission, and other revenue streams. Perform and approve reconciliations for all associated accounts.
  • Analyze and interpret complex financial data related to energy transactions to support revenue recognition, variance analysis, and strategic financial forecasting.
  • Support continuous improvement across the billing lifecycle by addressing inefficiencies, implementing process enhancements, and collaborating cross-functionally.
  • Ensure all revenue accounting processes adhere to internal controls and comply with applicable regulatory and reporting requirements, including FERC EQR filings, RPS reporting, and audit support.
  • Maintain and continuously refine documentation of revenue processes to ensure consistency, audit readiness, and knowledge transfer.
  • Support with training and development of team members Foster a culture of knowledge sharing and collaborative learning.
  • Support participation in special projects and initiatives as assigned.

Qualifications

Experience/Qualifications/Education Required

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA or progress toward CPA certification preferred.
  • 5–7 years of relevant experience in revenue accounting or public accounting.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and revenue recognition principles.
  • Experience with month-end close processes, account reconciliations, and preparation/review of revenue-related journal entries.
  • Experience with Oracle financial/ERP system.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret complex financial data.
  • High level of proficiency in Excel (e.g., pivot tables, lookups, formulas).
  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Working knowledge of ISO/RTO market structures is a plus.
