Responsibilities

JOB PURPOSE

The Data and Analytics Governance Lead is responsible for designing, implementing, and enforcing enterprise-wide data governance strategies, policies, and frameworks that ensure data quality, compliance, security, and responsible usage across all business functions.

This position plays a strategic role in enabling trustworthy, high-value data use across the organization by embedding governance into the data lifecycle. The role partners closely with product, platform, engineering, legal, and business teams to establish standards, ensure regulatory compliance, mitigate risk, and promote a data culture grounded in accountability and transparency.

 

Key Accountabilities

  • Develop and lead the enterprise data governance strategy, policies, and operating model.
  • Partner with stakeholders to implement data stewardship, quality, classification, and metadata standards.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, internal controls, and privacy mandates.
  • Lead adoption of governance tools and processes, including training, onboarding, and change management.
  • Act as the central governance escalation point for data risk, exceptions, and policy violations.
  • Influence the roadmap of product and engineering teams to integrate governance controls and standards.

Qualifications

Experience/Qualifications/Education Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Management, Data Governance, Computer Science, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 8–10+ years of experience in data governance, compliance, information security, or enterprise data management.
  • Deep expertise in data governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA-DMBOK), metadata management, data stewardship, and regulatory compliance (GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, etc.).
  • Ability to influence and lead without direct authority across matrixed teams.

Technical Skills

  • Experience implementing data governance tools and platforms such as Microsoft Purview or Collibra.
  • Familiarity with data architecture and cloud-based environments (Azure, Databricks, Snowflake, etc.) is a plus.
  • Strong policy writing, training design, and change management experience.

The expected starting pay range for this role is $103,000 - $139,000 USD. This range is an estimate and base pay may be above or below the ranges based on several factors including but not limited to location, work experience, certifications, and education. In addition to base pay, Pattern’s compensation program includes a bonus structure for full-time employees of all levels. We also provide a comprehensive benefits package which includes medical, dental, vision, short and long-term disability, life insurance, voluntary benefits, family care benefits, employee assistance program, paid time off and bonding leave, paid holidays, 401(k)/RRSP retirement savings plan with employer contribution, and employee referral bonuses.
