Responsibilities

Job Purpose

The AVP, Technology Infrastructure, Operations and Security will be responsible for leading Pattern’s technology operations and ensuring the security and reliability of critical systems in a hybrid IT and OT environment.  This senior leader will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive IT and OT strategy that supports our business objectives, drives innovation, and mitigates cyber security and reliability risks associated with managing a geographically dispersed renewable energy and transmission infrastructure. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background, exceptional leadership skills, a proven track record of managing complex IT and OT environments, encompassing both cloud and on-premises infrastructure, deep experience in cyber security practices in regulated environments.

 

In this role, you will collaboratively lead the Enterprise Technology teams: Data Architecture, Business Applications, Information security and OT Operations to deliver integrated solutions to the business, as well as with business operation, regulatory and compliance department leaders and teams.

  • Maintain and execute information security strategy and improvement plan.
  • Execute IT and OT technology improvement projects, including delivery of technology for new sites (e.g. SunZia).
  • Lead day-day IT and OT operations and plan, including implementation of service management processes across Enterprise technology.
  • Evaluate and deploy technology solutions to improve collaboration and productivity for the company, while ensuring minimizing impact to existing production systems/infrastructure, Maintain a best-in-class internal technology for the company.
  • Recruit, lead, direct, develop, coach and evaluate direct reports.
  • Engage and manage key stakeholder relationships to communicate and review SLAs, understand business needs and drive continuous improvement in service delivery.
  • As a member of the Enterprise Technology leadership team, support broader execution of the Enterprise technology and transformation strategy and planning.

Qualifications

Experience/Qualifications/Education Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 15+ years of progressive experience in IT and OT leadership roles, with a focus on the management of technology infrastructure in a hybrid environment (Cloud and onPremise) ideally within the regulated energy sector.
  • Exceptional leadership skills with a track record of leading and inspiring high-performing teams (with both internal and external resources) and demonstrated capabilities to influence technology and business leaders.  
    • Proven records implementation company-wide information security strategies and maintaining a risk-based posture, inclusive of IT and OT standards.
    • Proven track record of developing, implementing and managing successful IT and OT technology strategies, including workplace applications (MSFT Teams, WebEx, Office Management Systems, Networks, Laptop and mobile provisioning).
    • Experience managing IT and OT budgets and vendor relationships.
    • Experience implementing disaster recovery plans.

Additional Requirements

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain highly technical information in a concise and effective manner to an audience of varying technical aptitude and to senior leaders of the Company.
  • Sense of urgency to assess impact of security events, mobilize & influence resources from multiple departments and effectively communicate across leadership levels.
  • Effective problem solving, with an emphasis on diagnosing and resolving root causes, and on building and supporting robust solutions.
  • Data-driven approach to managing performance and driving continuous improvement.
  • Ability to work independently, as a team member, and across the organization with colleagues at any level in a fast-paced environment.

Technical Skills

  • Deep technical understanding of cloud computing (Azure, AWS), onPremise infrastructure & managed data center environments, networking, server administration, cybersecurity principles, and OT security principles, with experience in managing hybrid environments.
  • Experience with OT specific standards and regulations like NERC CIP, with a focus on their application in the energy sector, and its dependencies to cyber security practices.
  • Proven experience in designing and implementing secure hybrid architectures (cloud and onPremise) and managing cloud security tools and services.
  • Experience managing cloud based and on-premise identity management systems.
  • Experience managing technology infrastructure for remote monitoring and control systems, SCADA systems.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing ITMS/ITIL processes and managing production environments (Change management, Incident management, problem management, etc.

 

The expected starting pay range for this role is $187,000 - $254,000 USD. This range is an estimate and base pay may be above or below the ranges based on several factors including but not limited to location, work experience, certifications, and education. In addition to base pay, Pattern’s compensation program includes a bonus structure for full-time employees of all levels.
