JOB PURPOSE

 

The EPC Estimator at Dynamic Energy is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for solar, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and Electric Vehicle (EV) charging projects. This role ensures cost feasibility, risk mitigation, and financial viability for EPC projects, supporting business development and project execution. The EPC Estimator collaborates with project development, engineering, procurement, and construction teams to develop precise project budgets and facilitate competitive bidding processes.

Responsibilities

Key Accountabilities

  • Procore Systems Management: Maintain, update, and support Procore workflows, ensuring accurate project data and documentation.
  • COI & Contractor License Tracking: Monitor contractor licenses, COI requests, expiration dates, and compliance, ensuring all documentation is up to date.
  • Operations Support: Assist the Operations Manager in managing project documentation, reporting, and tracking key deliverables.
  • EPC Playbook Support: Help standardize and maintain the EPC Playbook, ensuring best practices and operational workflows are followed.
  • DocuSign & Document Management: Track, organize, and maintain electronic agreements and project documentation.
  • Project Reporting & Compliance: Generate reports and maintain organized records of project milestones, schedules, and status updates
  • Cross-Team Coordination: Support Project Managers and Construction Managers by tracking key project actions, ensuring alignment across teams.

Qualifications

Experience/Qualifications/Education Required

 

Formal Education or Equivalent:

Required: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field.

 

Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.

 

Type and Years of Prior Work Experience:

            Required:

  • 3-5 years of experience in estimating, cost analysis, or financial modeling, preferably in EPC or renewable energy.
  • Proven experience in estimating costs for solar energy projects, including components, labor, materials, and soft costs.
  • Familiarity with construction methodologies and cost tracking.
  • Proficiency in cost estimation software, Excel, and financial modeling tools.
  • Experience in preparing detailed cost breakdowns for proposals and competitive bidding.
  • Proven track record of estimating solar, BESS, and EV projects.
  • Knowledge of basic engineering concepts associated with renewable energy facilities (geotechnical, civil, structural, electrical).
  • Knowledge in engineering and cost estimating of energy storage projects
  • Ability to simultaneously prioritize and manage multiple projects under demanding schedule constraints.
  • Must be proficient in typical software applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Project.  

 

Preferred:

  • Experience specifically within the renewable energy or solar industry.
  • Previous experience in pre-construction for EPC projects.
  • Additional Certifications: Certifications specific to renewable energy, such as NABCEP (North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners) Solar PV Installation Professional certification, can be a significant asset.
  • Expertise in renewable energy systems, including electrical and structural components.
  • Familiarity with industry-specific tools like PVsyst, Helioscope, or equivalent software.

 

Other Qualifications:

            Required:

  • Advanced proficiency in cost estimation software, spreadsheets, and financial tools.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills to assess complex project requirements.
  • Deep understanding of market trends, pricing benchmarks, and supplier networks.
  • Ability to collaborate across departments and present technical data effectively.
  • Familiarity with energy storage technologies and their integration with solar projects, including Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and associated costs.
  • Knowledge of Electric Vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, including different charging technologies, installation requirements, and associated costs.
  • Experience estimating costs for community solar projects, considering factors such as subscriber models, virtual net metering, and shared savings arrangements.
  • Experience in conducting value engineering assessments to optimize project costs and identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.
  • Familiarity with lifecycle cost analysis methodologies to assess the long-term financial implications of solar, BESS, and EV projects.
  • Familiarity with estimating software and tools specific to the renewable energy industry, such as solar design software and cost estimation databases.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with sales and business development teams to understand customer requirements and develop accurate cost estimates aligned with project budgets.
  • Strong negotiation skills to engage with suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors to obtain competitive pricing and favorable terms.

 

 

The expected starting pay for this role is $85,000 USD. This range is an estimate and base pay may be above or below the ranges based on several factors including but not limited to location, work experience, certifications, and education. In addition to base pay, Pattern’s compensation program includes a bonus structure for full-time employees of all levels.
