Responsibilities

JOB PURPOSE

 

Provide professional knowledge of concepts and principles within the team to define, develop, and provide turbine engineering expertise and services to other business units within the company.  Assists other business units in a diverse set of activities requiring a short/medium timeframe for group's product dissemination and utilization.  Responsible for managerial level review of core products and work allocation amongst team members.

 

Key Accountabilities

  • Manage projects and programs that impact the reliability and performance of Pattern's operational equipment, with a specialized focus on mechanical systems and generating equipment.
  • Manage contractors and consultants on technical projects and initiatives. Provide direction and guidance to contractors and internal employees as a subject matter expert and project manager.
  • Identify opportunities, develop project plans for, and execute fleet performance improvement initiatives with little to no supervision.
  • Supervise research and development efforts in turbine reliability-focused areas

Qualifications

Experience/Qualifications/Education Required

 

  • Bachelor's degree in related field
  • 6-15 years of experience in turbine reliability engineering, and/or turbine design engineering
  • Professional knowledge of concepts and principles in related discipline
  • Ability to lead others in the application of such in creation of work product
  • Ability to solve complex analyses, understand implication of results, and develop and communicate actionable plans, both internal to the team as well as increasingly to other business units.

Additional Qualifications

·         Must be able to climb modern wind turbine without a lift or climb assist

·         Strong technical capabilities and a creative, curious, self-driven work ethic

·         Ability to work well in and/or lead cross functional teams with little supervision or oversight

·         Desire to work in the field in challenging environments to collect data for RCA or system studies

·         Ability to travel frequently (Up to 20% travel)

Technical Skills

  • Ability to perform and review advanced mathematical calculations and engineering specifications
  • Ability to simply and effectively communicate complex concepts
  • Ability to read and understand plans, specifications, drawings, and documents relating to engineering and construction, including one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, and wiring diagrams
  • Ability to write simple yet thorough test plans and coordinate through execution by anticipating potential problems and implementing required controls
  • Ability to quickly assess emergency situations and requirements and to develop and implement appropriate action plans
  • Ability to work around energized equipment under proper lock-out, tag-out, and other safety procedures
  • Ability to occasionally perform physical requirements including standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, twisting, reaching, and climbing at project locations in order to inspect equipment or collect information
