General Summary

The Design Engineer’s primary role is to work with other internal design and engineering staff to create ground mount, solar canopy, and energy storage designs in AutoCAD, producing construction document sets, and electrical single-line diagrams.

 

Responsibilities

Key Functions

 

  • Create canopy, ground mount and new rooftop solar designs that conform to NEC codes and permitting requirements using AutoCAD and Helioscope
  • Represent Solect as a technical resource on project coordination calls for new construction projects
  • Work with Regulatory part of the team on utility revisions during interconnection process
  • Produce construction document sets that will be used during construction, including required details such as equipment pad design/layouts and switchgear elevations, as well as creating as built construction documents once project is complete
  • Create site plans depicting equipment pads/locations, transformer pads, trench route and point of interconnection details
  • Design energy storage systems into existing and new solar projects
  • Create electrical single-line diagrams to be reviewed and stamped by PE

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year experience in C&I Solar PV design and engineering required
  • Energy Storage design experience preferred
  • Proficiency in creating electrical single-line diagrams preferred
  • Ability to complete point to point diagrams for storage and PV monitoring systems a plus
  • NABCEP PV Design or Installation Certification preferred
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Salesforce, Google Suite and Microsoft Office
  • Quality oriented with attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task and manage several project designs simultaneously
  • Professional and personable demeanor and willingness to interact with clients and members of other teams

Special Position Requirements

  • Travel is required fifteen (15%) of the time throughout Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut.

The expected starting pay range for this role is $79,000 - $99,000 USD. This range is an estimate and base pay may be above or below the ranges based on several factors including but not limited to location, work experience, certifications, and education. In addition to base pay, Pattern’s compensation program includes a bonus structure for full-time employees of all levels.
