Responsibilities

Job Purpose 

Maximize value in the development, construction, and operations project phases, by leading equipment procurement activities, negotiating complex and high dollar value renewable energy supply and service transactions, and working effectively with the execution teams to minimize risks during construction.  Operate as the commercial lead with respect to major capital equipment and related services during the entire project lifecycle – through development, financing, construction/contract execution and ultimately until handoff to operations.  Act as the primary interface with suppliers to stay abreast of new technology and market trends and keeping internal stakeholders of such developments.

  

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the Request for Proposal (RFP) process, when applicable, for power generation and transmission equipment and services; analyze bid results and compile bid evaluations.
  • Lead analysis and evaluation of supplier product options and make recommendations for supplier and product selections.
  • Negotiate and manage power generation equipment and service transactions for wind, solar, storage and/or transmission projects; manage the interdisciplinary team across construction, legal, finance, development, operations and technical personnel.
  • Assist with the project’s financial close process, including providing copies of requested contracts (and exhibits) and compiling responses from OEMs and/or interdisciplinary teams to independent engineering (IE) questions.
  • Guide development strategies, relating to power generation and transmission procurement, from prospecting through financial close.
  • Optimize equipment procurement decisions for projects pursuant to the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA).
  • Interface with suppliers for wind, solar, storage, transmission, hydrogen and other generation equipment to stay abreast of new technology and product development to inform the organization about trends and product options.
  • Maintain the necessary technical and administrative infrastructure to manage historical pricing across all projects and technologies; create forward-looking reports projecting price and technology improvements for major generation equipment (wind turbines, solar modules, energy storage, etc.).
  • Lead supplier relationship management programs for key suppliers, integrating operations, procurement and supply chain.
  • Integrate procurement and vendor interface into the development and financing efforts, including:
    • Determining equipment configuration for the project
    • Leading technical diligence relating to equipment and project suitability
    • Flanging equipment procurement contracts to development and construction requirements
  • Facilitate the execution of Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDA) with prospective suppliers/partners and Memorandums of Understanding (MOU) with OEMs.

Qualifications

Experience / Qualifications / Education Required

  • Minimum of seven (7) years of related experience; experience in renewable energy project development and/or the energy industry is a plus.
  • Four (4) year degree in engineering, accounting, supply chain, business or finance. MBA desirable.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read, write and negotiate contracts; familiarity with contracting for large generation and related equipment.
  • Experienced in financial analysis and capital budgeting.
  • Facility with typical computer software (Microsoft Word, Excel, SharePoint, Project and PowerPoint), with an emphasis on Excel.
  • Previous experience working with Joint Venture project partners a plus.
  • Familiarity with domestic and global power generation and energy markets, particularly in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
  • Familiarity with the exportation/importation of equipment/materials.
  • Experienced in financial analysis including price forecasting and reporting
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and online document management tools a plus.
  • Some travel is required.

 

The expected starting pay range for this role is $118,000 USD - $160,000 in local currency. This range is an estimate and base pay may be above or below the ranges based on several factors including but not limited to location, work experience, certifications, and education. In addition to base pay, Pattern’s compensation program includes a bonus structure for full-time employees of all levels.
