Responsibilities

Job Purpose

The Sr. / Director of Business Development is a Leadership position requiring a driven, self-starter with a passion for the Solar Industry, desiring to help take a fast-growing Solar Development firm to regional prominence. He/she will be responsible for developing a robust pipeline of active opportunities that facilitates meeting the company’s annual sales objectives. This position is based in Massachusetts and will support the surrounding New England states, one of the fastest growing solar markets in the country.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Generate new solar PV and energy storage business opportunities within both the public and C&I sectors to build a sales opportunity funnel and sign contracts that meet or exceed sales and pipeline quotas year after year.
  • Qualify sites and define new solar/storage projects, model financial benefits, and present proposals with key decision makers. Become a trusted advisor with “C” level decision makers and gain “preferred” status for Solect for all solar project potential.
  • Leverage Solect’s strategic advantages in the public sector to create new opportunities and develop new referral and channel partners to accelerate business growth.
  • Team with the sales operations and marketing team at events and campaigns and new lead generation.
  • Team with internal co-workers throughout the project cycle for design, proposal, and contract support to help you close new projects and gain new customers.
  • Diligently maintain the status and details of all project opportunities in Salesforce.com.
  • Conduct post-installation transition to Services meetings to ensure customer satisfaction and management efficiency, and to generate additional projects.

Qualifications

Desired Skills & Experience

  • 3 Years+ selling and/or developing projects in the Commercial Solar Industry.
  • Previous experience and success working with Public and private sector customers.
  • Financial expertise and acumen: comprehensive understanding of finance concepts – Payback, Depreciation, Internal Rate of Return (IRR) - and how they apply to “C-level” financial decision makers. Requires a very strong command of Excel workbooks and once trained, ability to work accurately and independently developing project cost and price proposals.
  • Ability to work well managing multiple engagements and projects concurrently and efficiently.
  • Experience closing contracts, including the ability to explain and negotiate contract terms and conditions in energy purchase and site control legal agreements.
  • Demonstrated success with closing C level customers, and strong local network with access to multiple “C-level” key financial decision makers.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Collaborative style with internal and external customers.
  • A technical background in electrical power is a plus.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously and independently.
  • Highly ethical, professional and a commitment to team success.
  • Computer savvy with experience working in Microsoft, Google, Salesforce, and GIS applications.

 

Physical Requirement

  • Employee must be able to walk customer’s property and/or roof which may include varying terrain.
  • Employee must be able to carry up to 20 pounds of equipment, including solar analysis device, laptop, printer and binder.
  • Must be able to travel by car up to 200 miles in a day.
