Job Purpose

Pattern Energy is excited to hire our summer 2020 Interns! Pattern’s Summer Internship Program gives undergraduate and graduate students hands-on experience to develop technical skills, as well as a better understanding of the renewable industry. This internship program will run for approximately 10-12 weeks and include a formal welcome, mentorship opportunities, and executive exposure. This is one way that Pattern Energy supports the larger renewable community and invests in the next generation of great minds.

 

Electrical Engineering team is seeking an intern to help the team update their Major Equipment and relay databases. They will also help gather important documentation including Bill Of Material, three-lines, AC and DC schematics, relay panel front views, wiring diagrams and vendor drawings for Pattern’s fleet. Qualified candidate will also help the team develop and enhance our fleet electrical performance monitoring screens working closely with our Data team. This role will provide hands-on involvement in various aspects of Technical Services operation, giving candidate an in-depth knowledge of Windfarm plant physical and electrical configuration, and the tools needed to maintain its reliable operation.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Update Engineering’s Major Equipment database.
  • Update Engineering’s Relay database.
  • Locate technical documents, which are spread across various different document storage platforms and consolidate them under Engineering’s OneNote platform.nship presenta
  • Develop equipment/alarm monitoring screens for Electrical team.
  • Completion of a formal intertion.
  • Other projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Experience/Qualifications/Education Required

  • Working towards a Bachelor's degree having completed 3 years of undergraduate course work in Electrical Engineering with focus on Power Systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an ability to express ideas effectively and fluently.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment where teamwork and independent work ethic are essential.
  • Ability to synthesize and organize large amounts of data.
  • Ability to organize time well and set proper priorities.
  • Advanced knowledge of spreadsheets and presentation software. 

 

This position will commence in late May/early June through August 2020.
