Responsibilities

Job Purpose

Pattern Energy is excited to hire our summer 2020 Interns! Pattern’s Summer Internship Program gives undergraduate and graduate students hands-on experience to develop technical skills, as well as a better understanding of the renewable industry. This internship program will run for approximately 10-12 weeks and include a formal welcome, mentorship opportunities, and executive exposure. This is one way that Pattern Energy supports the larger renewable community and invests in the next generation of great minds.

Key Accountabilities

Work with Pattern’s Financial Systems team in a variety of areas, including but not limited to contributing to team initiatives and running independent projects. The objective of the Financial Systems team is to maintain and develop the company’s financial-related business software systems including the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system and associated integrated solutions and to provide business intelligence to the organization. This department interfaces with a wide range of stakeholders across the company that utilize ERP functions and data with a focus on Accounting as a primary customer. Our goal is to improve employee experience and efficiency through leveraging technology to find innovative solutions.  The Financial Systems Intern will be assigned projects based on their interests, abilities and company priorities at the time.  There are many ongoing projects that can require assistance and will provide outstanding learning opportunities.  The potential projects will likely leverage the following production applications: Microsoft Dynamics 365, PowerBI, Hyperion, Blackline, and possibly others.

 

  • Assist with complex process improvement and technology implementation initiatives including new or enhanced ERP functionality, PowerBI report-writing and visualization, system integration improvements and other items.
  • Meet with cross-functional teams to gather and understand new operational and reporting requirements. Interface with IT and external consultants for technical guidance in solutions. Maintain documentation of new features in accordance with change management policy.
  • Manage various system master data configuration and business rules in both test and production environments. Maintain supporting documentation of updates in accordance with change management policy.
  • Troubleshoot problems, resolve system issues, and improve overall data quality and system usage. Create and maintain process documentation to support end user needs.
  • Completion of a formal internship presentation.
  • Other projects as assigned. 

Qualifications

Experience/Qualifications/Education Required

  • Working towards a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Information Technology, Accounting, Computer Science, Business Administration or related areas having completed 3 years of course work in those areas.
  • Passion for renewable energy to contribute to Pattern transition the world to renewable energy.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an ability to express ideas effectively through data or presentation.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment where teamwork and independent work ethic are essential.
  • Ability to synthesize and organize large amounts of data.
  • Ability to organize time well and set proper priorities.
  • Advanced knowledge of spreadsheets and presentation software such as MSFT Power Point. 

This position will commence in late May/early June through August 2020.
