    Responsibilities

    Job Purpose

    The  Manager, SEC Reporting is responsible to direct a team for the timely and accurate analysis and reporting of the company’s complex technical accounting matters as well as to direct the timely and accurate reporting of the company’s public company financial statements including 10-K’s, 10-Q’s, 8-k’s and other SEC filing requirements in compliance with the requirements set forth by the SEC, U.S. GAAP or as required by debt holders, tax equity investors, and major investors.

     

    This role ensures new accounting policies are evaluated and implemented timely and accurately for the Company.  All roles and responsibilities of this position are also responsible for the successful communication and issue resolution with external auditors. Collaborate and work with Senior Director of Technical Accounting and Reporting and Director of Technical Accounting and Reporting to ensure accounting and reporting of complex transaction is accurate and transparent.  This position will also manage preparation of annual corporate audits and individual project-level annual audit reports. This position will lead and coordinate cross functional projects for the  Controller, and Senior Accounting Managers, partnering with commercial and finance professionals across the organization. Lead implementation of new accounting standards (Leases ASC 842). Act as a technical resource across the organization and provide training for other accounting  & non-accounting professionals.

     

    Key Contacts

    This position will maintain key internal relationships with the Senior Director of Technical Accounting and Reporting, Director of Technical Accounting and Reporting, Controller, Assistant Vice President of FP&A, Director, Consolidations & Financial Systems, corporate and operational accounting groups, and the corporate tax, legal, IT and finance groups as well as other operational management as needed.  Externally, key relationships will include Pattern’s audit and tax firms.

     

    Key Accountabilites

    The following reflects management’s definition of essential functions for this job but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned.  Management may assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time as necessary.

    • Research and document technical accounting issues related to material transactions to support audits and financial reporting – expected to be mainly US GAAP, but may include IFRS.
    • Work with the Controller, Assistant Vice President of FP&A, Sr. Manager, Consolidations & Financial Reporting, and GL accounting groups in developing financial statements for audit and investor needs.
    • Lead analysis and documentation of technical issues on variable interest entity & consolidation, leasing, revenue recognition, debt and equity method investments under US GAAP.
    • Continue to maintain and develop Company accounting policies.
    • Work with the Assistant Vice President, Internal Audit to support development, implementation, and maintenance of internal SOX controls.
    • Prepare the annual audited financial statements and footnotes and other company filings as required, including 10-Ks, 10-Qs, 8-Ks and debt offerings.
    • Work with corporate and operational accounting groups to execute audits.
    • Perform or assist with ad-hoc or special projects as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Educational and Technical Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting and CPA.
    • A graduate degree in Accounting or Tax is highly desirable.
    • Candidates should have at least 6+ years in progressively senior-level and manager level accounting positions with extensive technical accounting responsibilities.
    • A deep expert level understanding of US GAAP accounting standards is required, with a strong specialization in GAAP technical accounting skill-set with broad knowledge and experience of external reporting requirements deep expert level SEC-level experience.
    • Experience in leading and apppling new ASCs (e.g 606). Experience in the power generation or energy industry (including tax equity structures) and knowledge of applicable industry accounting standards and interpretations is required.
    • Act as technical expert to organization and experience in training other accounting professionals on new accounting issues and standards.
