    Responsibilities

    JOB PURPOSE

    This position is responsible to direct the timely and accurate analysis and reporting of the company’s complex technical accounting matters as well as to direct the timely and accurate reporting of the company’s financial statements in compliance with the requirements set forth by the U.S. GAAP or as required by debt holders, tax equity investors, and major investors. This role ensures new accounting policies are evaluated and implemented timely and accurately for the Company.  All roles and responsibilities of this position are also responsible for the successful communication and issue resolution with external auditors. In addition to direct the accurate and timely accounting evaluation of the Company’s merger and acquisition activities. Additionally, this role will be required to assist in drafting of financial statement disclosure as it relates to certain complex transactions.     Key contacts

    Key internal relationships will include the Executive Management Team, Operations, Finance, Tax and Legal, and other members of the corporate and operational accounting teams.  Externally, key relationships will include third party valuation firms Pattern’s audit and legal firms, and Pattern’s audit committee and board of directors.

     

    Key Accountabilities

    • Manage the accurate and timely accounting for the Company’s technical accounting transactions including the successful integration of the Company’s activities with internal stakeholders (legal and finance).;
    • Manage the accurate and timely accounting for the Company’s merger and acquisition activities including the successful integration of the Company’s activities with internal stakeholders (legal and finance).;
    • Manage the reporting requirements for the private and public Company’s technical accounting transactions and merger and acquisition activities;
    • Assist with other reporting requirements related to Pattern Energy Group
    • Manage the development of process improvements which align with technical accounting and external reporting requirements;
    • Manage the internal development of department direct reports;
    • Support development, implementation, and management of the financial reporting SOX control environment;
    • Perform or assist with ad-hoc financial reporting projects as needed.
    • Assist with other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Educational Requirements

    This role requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, CPA, and 10-15 years of progressive accounting experience with 5-7 years in a managerial role. The background should include public company experience with a Big 4 accounting firm, full cycle accounting including monthly/quarterly closes, evaluation of technical accounting matters and mergers and acquisitions.

    Required Work Experience

    The candidate must have recent SEC reporting experience in industry.  Experience in the power generation industry is highly desirable.  Public accounting experience with a major firm is highly desirable.

    Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems; ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports are essential.

    • The candidate should have a minimum of 10 years of experience in progressively senior-level finance and accounting positions, including or focused on public company reporting.
    • Recent SOX reporting and management experience.
    • Experience in a fast-paced, unstructured, recently public company highly desirable.

    Technical Skills

    • US GAAP required, IFRS desirable.
    • Technical knowledge of complex accounting transaction with an emphasis on business combinations, asset acquisitions, derivatives, debt transactions, equity investments and foreign subsidiaries.
