    The Senior Director is a senior position in the finance department, which is responsible for executing the company’s capital strategy, corporate development, financial, and treasury activities.  The position reports to the CFO of Pattern Development and is part of the Finance Leadership Group.  The person will primarily lead, negotiate, and close corporate or project finance and tax equity partnership transactions as well as supervise and manage analytical and commercial work of junior team members.  The person will work closely with our North American development team.  In addition, the Senior Director shall have managerial responsibility for  a Finance Director who is responsible for directing and managing the activities of the Portfolio Finance team, which fully manages and administers the existing project / corporate finance and tax equity portfolio of Pattern Energy and Pattern Development.



    • Lead and negotiate project or corporate financing transactions for renewable energy projects, including gathering market intelligence, selecting financing sources, structuring the transaction, preparing pro forma economics, and negotiating documentation.  Lead the identification and analysis of issues throughout the transaction that may impact operational, financial, legal, and tax viability of a deal.
    • Serve as internal team leader throughout the transaction life-cycle. 
    • Support transaction execution of early stage development acquisitions originated by the company’s development team and serve as coordinator of internal and external resources in preparation for financing activities related to construction, completion, and operations.
    • Build and maintain relationships with outside financing parties, advisors, and technical experts through the deal cycle and across multiple transactions.
    • Prepare various internal analysis and approval documentation, transaction analysis, and draft and deliver transaction recommendations to the Investment Committee and Board of Directors.
    • Serve as the direct reporting manager for the head of Portfolio Finance. The Portfolio Finance business unit, headed by a Finance Director, has primary responsibility for managing and administering our more than $7B of existing debt, tax equity, and corporate financings across 50+ counterparties.



    • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field; MBA strongly preferred.
    • 10-15 years of relevant experience in corporate M&A, project finance, or infrastructure investing. Proven and extensive experience leading debt and tax equity transactions in the renewable energy sector required. 
    • Ability to work in a results-oriented, project-driven, real-time team environment.  Ability to prioritize multiple projects and deliver quality results within tight time constraints.
    • Strong commercial skills required, including ability to recognize primary value and risk drivers within transactions, and negotiate responsive commercial and financial arrangements that maximize value to the company while ensuring appropriate risk exposure.
    • Ability to lead and manage people and leverage personal expertise and experience across teams of employees under direct management.
    • Ability to cultivate and maintain a strong network of professional relationships across the industry.
