    Job Purpose


    This position will have managerial and accounting responsibility for operating wind and solar projects. The incumbent will work closely with the Sr. Accounting Manager - Operations, other accounting managers and accountants within the accounting group based in Houston and San Francisco, as well as individuals from other groups such as finance, legal, asset management, and tax.


    Key Accountabilities

    • Manage operations general ledger accounting team by reviewing journal entries, reconciliations, stand alone financial statements and ensuring accounting process is in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley
    • Manage intercompany billing, closing and reporting of operator entities as well as ensuring invoicing is in compliance with intercompany agreements
    • Manage monthly close process to ensure timely completion of consolidation and reporting deliverables including projects’ loan compliance
    • Ensure consistent application of US GAAP and IFRS
    • Coordinate accounting system enhancements in accordance with management’s objectives and company resources
    • Read, interpret and guide staff in determination of proper US GAAP and IFRS accounting treatment of complex deals/transactions
    • Manage audits by interfacing with auditors, ensuring timely completion of supporting schedules related to stand alone financials as well as Form 10-Q and 10-K
    • Support the development and documentation of and implement accounting policies
    • Mentor staff in developing their understanding of wind and solar asset origination and operations and keep staff abreast of accounting guidance
    • Prepare and/or review annual budgets and forecasts
    • Analyze budget vs. actual variances and review with the operation team on a monthly basis
    • Interact with operations team to ensure operations processes are in line with reporting schedules
    • Understand current and proposed legislation and enforce accounting regulations
    • Other special projects as assigned


    Educational Experience

    A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent major required. An active CPA license or Canadian Chartered Accountant designation highly preferred.


    Required and Preferred Work Experience


    The following criteria will be used as a basis for Pattern to select a qualified applicant:

    • Minimum of 10 years of relevant accounting experience
    • Experience working in the renewable energy industry highly preferred
    • Accounting experience at a US public company
    • Knowledge of Sarbanes Oxley requirements
    • Ability to lead a team consisting of 3 or more direct reports
    • Experience with accounting for businesses with multiple functional currencies
    • Experience with purchase accounting – business combinations
    • Accounting to meet the requirements of financing and loan documents
    • Understanding of derivative accounting

    Must possess strengths in the following:

    • The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong "hands on" technical skills with a keen, thorough attention to detail.
    • Strong technical and analytical accounting background and familiarity or experience with complex accounting issues, consolidations, US and foreign GAAP issues, foreign currency re-measurement and translation, multiple corporate structures, equity and investment accounting.
    • Commitment and ability to meet deadlines for monthly and quarterly reporting, and special projects.
    • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize, follow-through, and manage a demanding workload involving multiple tasks, responsibilities and deadlines
    • Enjoys working in a very “hands on” and detail-oriented environment.
    • Must be self-motivated and capable of working with minimal supervision.
    • Self-starter with flexibility, desire and eagerness to learn, willing to ask questions and take ownership of projects.
    • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. Must have ability to lead operations meetings and be well versed with activities and accounting at various projects.

    Technical Skills

    Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint). Experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX preferred.
