    Responsibilities

    JOB PURPOSE


     


    This position will have accounting responsibility for one or more corporate entities where the majority of personnel, administrative and public company activity occur. The incumbent can expect to work closely with the accounting group based in San Francisco.


     


    The role can encompass assistance with preparation of consolidated financial statements, working closely with other accountants and auditors to manage audit requests, light research on accounting for new activities, and communication with other departments for assistance with various accounting issues.


     


    The position will require a reasonable amount of overtime hours to meet project deadlines when required.


     


     


    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES



    • Full accounting and general ledger responsibility for one or more corporate level entities.

    • Hands on use, data entry and navigation of Pattern’s general ledger, and reporting software (currently Dynamics AX). 

    • Prepare account analyses and reconciliations on a monthly basis.

    • Review account analyses and reconciliations and financial statements for joint ventures prepared by third parties.

    • Work closely with finance and transaction teams to properly account for corporate level financing (equity and debt) and corporate level transaction costs related to acquisitions.

    • Work closely with human resources and payroll department regarding payroll/personnel accounting and intercompany transactions.

    • Assist with quarterly (10-Q) and annual (10-K) public reporting requirements – primarily focused on preparation of consolidated financial statements and compilation of footnotes and applicable disclosures.

    • Ensure that monthly, quarterly, year-end, and special project deadlines and requirements are met.

    • Review and provide explanations for quarterly and yearly fluctuation analyses, and budget to actual variance analysis.

    • Preparation of quarterly transfer pricing calculations.

    • Interface with external auditors and other accountants to ensure audit requests are delivered on schedule.

    • Communicate with Pattern domestic offices, third parties and within the SF accounting group to coordinate information gathering and resolve accounting, intercompany and investment activity issues.

    • SOX 404 compliance duties.

    • Perform accounting research as needed.

    Qualifications

    EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS


     


    College degree required.  BS degree in accounting or an equivalent combination of coursework and experience is required. 


     


     


    REQUIRED WORK EXPERIENCE



    • The candidate should have a minimum of 4-8 years of relevant accounting experience. 

    • Public accounting experience, Big 4 preferred.


    Relevant experience (preferred, but not required) should include a combination of:



    • Financial statement preparation

    • Consolidation and intercompany accounting

    • Equity-method accounting

    • Purchase accounting – business combinations and asset acquisitions

    • International accounting experience

    • Derivatives and hedge accounting experience


     


    ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS


     


    Must possess strengths in the following and be willing to do research as needed:



    • The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong "hands on" technical skills with attention to detail.

    • Strong technical and analytical accounting background and familiarity or experience with complex accounting issues, consolidations, US GAAP and IFRS issues, foreign currency translation, multiple corporate structures, equity and investment accounting.

    • Commitment, ability, and prior experience in meeting deadlines for monthly and quarterly reporting, and special projects; preparing thorough and complete analyses and reconciliations with appropriate documentation and follow-up.

    • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage a demanding workload involving multiple tasks, responsibilities and deadlines with professional follow-through and minimal supervision.

    • Self-starter with flexibility, desire and eagerness to learn and assume new responsibilities while maintaining ownership of the Projects.

    • Strong interpersonal, writing and communication skills.


     


    TECHNICAL SKILLS



    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)

    • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel a plus

    • Previous experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX and Hyperion a plus
