    Responsibilities

    JOB PURPOSE

     

    This position will have accounting responsibility for assisting with the accounting for four corporate entities. The incumbent will work closely with other accountants within the accounting group based in San Francisco, as well as individuals from other groups such as finance, legal, asset management, and tax.

     

     

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

    • Primary general ledger responsibility for posting cash transactions for the corporate and project entities.
    • Prepare account analyses and reconciliations on a monthly basis.
    • Perform administrative functions for Joint Ventures Entities where Pattern Energy is not the Fiscal Administrator.
    • Ensure that monthly, quarterly, year-end, and special project deadlines and requirements are met.
    • Hands-on use, data entry and navigation of Pattern’s general ledger, and reporting software (currently Dynamics AX). Will need to learn to generate Dynamics reports from all system modules to take full advantage of Microsoft Dynamics Data.
    • Assist with quarterly (10Q) and annual (10K) public reporting requirements – primarily focused on compilation of footnotes and applicable disclosures.
    • SOX 404 compliance duties.
    • Communicate with other departments, third parties and within the accounting group to coordinate information gathering and resolve accounting, intercompany and investment activity issues.
    • Prepare monthly/quarterly variance analysis.
    • Coordination and review of investor distributions and ability to respond to investor requests for information.
    • Special projects as assigned.

    Qualifications

    EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

     

    A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent major required. A CPA license or Canadian Chartered Accountant designation is preferred.

     

    REQUIRED WORK EXPERIENCE

     

    The following criteria will be used as a basis for Pattern to select a qualified applicant:

    • Minimum of 3 years of relevant accounting experience
    • Accounting experience at a US public company
    • Familiarity with Sarbanes Oxley requirements

    The following experience is preferred:

    • Public accounting experience
    • Renewable energy industry experience
    • International accounting experience

    ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

    • Must possess strengths in the following and be willing to do research as needed:
    • The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong "hands on" technical skills with attention to detail.
    • Commitment, ability, and prior experience in meeting deadlines for monthly and quarterly reporting, and special projects; preparing thorough and complete analyses and reconciliations with appropriate documentation and follow-up.
    • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage a demanding workload involving multiple tasks, responsibilities and deadlines with professional follow-through and minimal supervision.
    • Self-starter with flexibility, desire and eagerness to learn and assume new responsibilities while maintaining ownership of the projects.
    • Strong interpersonal, writing and communication skills. Must be able to meet with and participate in Operations meetings and be well versed in the project contracts in order to contribute to these meetings.

     

    TECHNICAL SKILLS

     

    Computer skills – Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).  The Company is using Microsoft Dynamics AX for general ledger, fixed assets, and accounts payable, and Hyperion for consolidation and reporting.
