This position will have managerial and accounting responsibility for one or more corporate entities where the majority of personnel, administrative and public company activity occur.   

Key Accountabilities

  • Manage public company corporate general ledger accounting team by reviewing journal entries, reconciliations, stand alone and consolidated financial statements and ensuring accounting process is in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley
  • Full accounting and general ledger responsibility for Pattern Energy Group parent level company and other corporate level entitles – including account analyses and reconciliations as required
  • Ensure timely completion of consolidation and reporting deliverables and quarterly 10-Q and annual 10-K public reporting requirements. Assist with preparation of consolidated financial statements and compilation of footnotes and applicable disclosures
  • Manage corporate audit by interfacing with auditors
  • Read, interpret, and ensure consistent application of US GAAP and IFRS; Guide staff in determination of proper US GAAP and IFRS accounting treatment of corporate entities
  • Hands on use, data entry, navigation and ability to run reports from all system modules in Pattern’s general ledger and reporting software (Dynamics AX)
  • Coordinate accounting system enhancements in accordance with management’s objectives and company resources
  • Understand the relationship/interface between corporate and operations accounting
  • Support the development and documentation of and implementation of corporate accounting policies
  • Prepare and/or review annual budgets and forecasts for corporate entities
  • Coordinate budget vs. actual variances and review with the corporate team on a monthly basis
  • Guide, develop and mentor staff; write and deliver timely performance reviews
  • Assign and coordinate staff work and approve time off
  • Other special projects as assigned


Experience/Qualifications/Education Required

Educational Experience

A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and/or hold an active CPA license or Canadian Chartered Accountant designation. 


Required Work Experience


The following criteria will be used as a basis for Pattern to select a qualified applicant:

  • Minimum of 8 – 10 years of relevant work experience
  • Experience working in the renewable energy industry highly preferred
  • Accounting experience at a US public company
  • Exposure to Sarbanes Oxley
  • Ability to lead a team consisting of five or more direct reports
  • Multi-level consolidations with minority interests
  • Equity and cost accounting for investments
  • Multiple businesses with multiple functional currencies
  • Purchase accounting – business combinations
  • Understanding of project financing
  • Accounting to meet the requirements of financing and loan documents
  • Strong understanding of derivative accounting


Technical Skills


Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint).  Experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX preferred.
