    Responsibilities

    Job Purpose

    Support the Asset Management department in providing risk management and performance management analysis including budgeting and forecasting of  revenue, analysis and reporting of key financial and operational KPIs, evaluating risks inherent in power markets where Pattern operates, and providing other financial, risk and performance management services for Pattern’s fleet of operating assets. 

     

    Key Accountabilities

     

    Revenue & Risk Management

    • Execute the annual budget process for revenue including assisting in budget planning and logistics, incorporating inputs from SMEs (e.g. production, energy loss, market price, etc), and facilitating budget reviews.
    • Maintain revenue budget and forecast inputs and results in the relevant corporate data systems.
    • Execute the reforecasting process for revenue including planning and logistics, incorporating inputs from SMEs, and facilitating reviews.
    • Identify for Management key budget and forecast drivers and variances period-over-period; prepare materials as required to report on revenue performance.
    • Perform analysis as required to support Asset Management in performing revenue analysis and optimization.
    • Provide support to the organization in energy market risk management responsibilities including maintaining the market risk exposure model, reporting market risk metrics and understanding risk drivers, and supporting key compliance activities.

    Performance Reporting

    • Support the group in the design, preparation and analysis of fleet performance for Operations team performance reviews, Executive Management reviews and other reporting activities.
    • Understand key drivers of performance variance and support the group in identifying and implementing performance improvement strategies.

    Cost Analysis

    • Perform operating expense benchmark analysis by comparing fleet operating expenses to industry standards.
    • Periodically review the accuracy of internal management cost assumptions used in establishing service contract rates for projects.
    • Serve as the point of contact for operating expense budget inputs for future development projects.
    • Develop and maintain O&M cost models new project development.

    Qualifications

    Experience/Qualifications/Education Required

     

    Required Work Experience

     

    • Relevant project management skills and experience (2-5+ years)
    • Advanced computer proficiency including Microsoft product suite
    • Experience in the financial analysis or management of energy assets
    • Intermediate to Advanced analytical, statistical, and financial modelling skills 

    Educational Requirements

    • A bachelor’s degree in business, finance, engineering or a related field.

    • Ability to understand technical operational matters and translate them to commercial and financial analyses used for decision making
    • Understanding of power market operations inside and outside of organized markets
