    The position will support leading electrical training activities for safe and quality execution of renewable projects during construction and operations.  The Electrical Trainer will serve as a subject matter expert and group lead on electrical safety, compliance and technical skills.


    Key Accountabilities

    • Manage, develop, schedule and deliver classroom and online specialized training for electrical purposes for voltages ranging from 50v to 500kv. Trainings include, but are not limited to: Safety for Qualified Electrical Workers (examples: NFPA 70E, CSA Z462, OSHA, EUSA), lockout tagout, substation and collection system operations and standard practices.
    • Evaluate students in the classroom and the field and provide constructive feedback.
    • Ensure electrical training program meeting the training and compliance needs of the organization, federal, state, provincial and municipal regulations.
    • Participate in the continuous improvement and implementation of environmental, health and safety (EHS) and operations policies, procedures, and practices.
    • Facilitate and encourage Pattern’s safety culture


    Experience/Qualifications/Education Required


    Educational Requirements

    A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, physics, engineering or other closely related degree.  Job experience, professional development and continuing education may be substituted for educational experience.


    Required Work Experience


    Position requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in an electrical maintenance role, preferably with utilities, power generation or wind energy technology.


    Additional/Preferred Requirements

    • Knowledge and/or experience with electrical US and Canadian laws, regulation and standards relating to electrical maintenance, with emphasis on NFPA 70E and CSA Z462.
    • Knowledge of protection & control systems, HV substations, MV distribution systems and SCADA for design, construction, commissioning and troubleshooting.
    • Understand the basic functions of SCADA operations
    • Ability to conduct training in a variety of settings: phone conferencing, classroom, and video conferencing.
    • Must be comfortable speaking in front of a small group of approx. 15-18.
    • Must be able to travel to Canada and other countries.
    • Willingness and ability to travel up to 75% to support remote renewable energy projects.
    • Qualified to work on and around high voltage equipment
    • Ability to occasionally perform physical tasks including standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, twisting, reaching, and climbing at facility locations
    • Willingness and ability to climb up to 300 feet on a vertical ladder is preferred
    • Be proficient using a computer and Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word & PowerPoint).
    • Power generation/wind industry specific experience is preferred.
    • Teaching certification and/or practical experience teaching in the industrial field.
