    The Operational Performance Analyst position will be responsible for working with various meteorological aspects of operational performance for our fleet of wind and solar projects. The position will work closely with various departments within Pattern’s organization, including Asset Management, Market Operations, Engineering, on-site staff, the Operations and Control Center (OCC), and Executive Management. The position would be part of the Asset Management group.


    The position will be responsible for key day-to-day operational forecasting decisions, weekly, monthly and bi-annual project and fleet performance reviews, special projects surrounding existing assets, and ongoing collaboration with our overall Meteorology Team.


    Key Accountabilities 

    • Assist and/or lead in project performance reviews and analysis on multiple time scales (short and long-term):
      • Analysis of permanent meteorological mast and SCADA data;
      • Advanced spatial analytics;
      • Validation of loss factor and uncertainty analysis assumptions;
      • Long-term production trends and atmospheric drivers to project performance
      • Medium to long-term forecasts as it related to larger, and longer-term, atmospheric conditions.
    • Provide support and expertise to daily market positions for projects with spot-market price exposure in order to optimize project revenue capture.
    • Participate, and occasionally lead, daily and weekly meetings related to project performance and market status.
    • Provide support for annual production budget creation and higher frequency forecast updates and communicates effectively to a broad number of stake holders on the results.
    • Assist in special projects across our portfolio that may require interaction with a broad number of departments, including accounting, tax, insurance, and finance.
    • Assist in creation of new analytics surrounding project and fleet performance and market optimization.



    Experience/Qualifications/Education Required


    Educational Requirements


    Bachelor’s or Masters’ Degree in Atmospheric Sciences or related field.


    Required Work Experience


    2+ years of experience working in power market or wind industry related positions.


    Required Knowledge


    • Knowledge and comfortability working with numerical weather prediction (NWP) output from internal and external sources.
    • Comfortable working with very large datasets with some knowledge of scripting, programing, or data visualization.
    • Great verbal, written, organizational skills with willingness to be an independent worker


    Preferred Skills

    • Experience with power markets and analysis surrounding weather impacts on those markets, particularly focused on wind and transmission.
    • Experience in renewable energy project forecasting.
    • Experience in operational meteorology in the wind industry.
    • Able to collaborate and work effectively with several departments efficiently.
    • Strong communication and presentation skills.
    • Able to operate in a fast paced work environment.
