    This position will support the Real Estate Group by assisting with gathering, preparing, drafting, analyzing and organizing landowner and project real estate documents and related information; reviewing, analyzing and resolving title ownership and land issues; conducting due diligence reviews during the Company’s evaluation process for project acquisitions; hiring and evaluating bids of surveyors, title companies and other 3rd party contractors, managing these contractors’ activities and deliverables; and coordinating transaction closings.


    Key Accountabilities


    • Assist real estate transaction counsel and participate in planning, coordinating and executing project acquisitions, developments and financings.
    • Conduct due diligence reviews of landowner agreements and related real estate documents for potential land acquisitions and project development and financing transactions.
    • Hire and evaluate bids of surveyors, title companies and other 3rd party contractors, managing these contractors’ activities and deliverables.
    • Detailed review of title work and surveys and highly-developed ability to spot and resolve title ownership and legal description issues for title policy coverage.
    • Draft title curative and other real estate documents for attorney review, including land leases, easements, rights-of-way, land option agreements, deeds, assignments, non-disturbance agreements, memoranda and other recordable documents, estoppel certificates, lien affidavits, title objection letters, project closing checklists and closing instruction letters.
    • Work with outside counsel, surveyors and title company personnel to complete transactions.
    • Monitor critical action items and scheduled dates and milestones for land acquisitions and related project development and financing transactions.
    • Research state and local land development codes as needed.
    • Track and organize real estate documents for the Company’s portfolio of wind, solar and electrical transmission projects.
    • Assist with any other deal-closing activities as may be required.
    • Complete other job-related duties as assigned and/or necessary.



    Experience/Qualifications/Education Required


    Educational Requirements


    Bachelor’s Degree and Paralegal Certificate are required.  Notary certification is strongly preferred. 


    Required Work Experience


    At least six years of solid paralegal experience working on large-scale land or real estate transactions at a top law firm and/or energy company.  Significant experience in real estate project acquisition and development work is strongly preferred.  Paralegal work must have focused on transactional real estate, land and title work at least 75% of the time.  Project finance experience a plus.

    • High degree of self-direction and motivation, with excellent teamwork skills.
    • Ability to uphold standards of complete discretion and confidentiality and exercise good judgment on day-to-day decisions.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat applications.
