The International Tax Senior Manager will primarily be responsible for the US federal governance area with the main technical focus to be US International taxation and the roll-up of the US domestic components of income tax compliance including preparation and review of the company’s US Informational returns of foreign partnerships, corporations and disregarded entities.  In addition, this position will be responsible for preparation and review of foreign tax provisions and managing the tax compliance requirements with third party providers in certain foreign jurisdictions.  


Key Accountabilities

  • Primarily responsible for the company’s tax planning and tax efficiency for inbound and outbound cross border transactions
  • Participation in internal cross functional M&A teams to ensure tax efficient structuring for international transactions and acquisitions
  • Prepare & review ASC 740 tax provision computations for foreign jurisdictions
  • Review forms 5471, 5472, 8865, and 8858 for foreign affiliates owned by US corporations and partnerships
  • Review and analysis of complex foreign tax basis computations
  • Calculate subpart F and PFIC inclusions for foreign affiliates
  • Prepare & review schedules for U.S. and foreign source income & deductions
  • Review of Foreign Bank Account Reporting returns
  • Assist in the preparation, calculation and support of intercompany transfer pricing
  • Review and analysis of book tax differences arising from international operations of a US based multinational enterprise for US international income tax provision and compliance purposes
  • Research, analysis, and interpretation of tax legislation with respect to federal and foreign international tax issues
  • Assist in the response to tax notices and tax authority inquiries in foreign jurisdictions
  • Manage relationships with outside tax compliance and consulting service providers
  • Develop and manage Pattern’s tax compliance group as required
  • Other special projects as assigned


Educational Requirements

  • A Bachelors degree is required, Masters in Taxation or LLM desired
  • The minimum of 12-15 years of relevant tax experience in public accounting or in the private sector, showing the ability to progressively assume additional responsibilities

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to demonstrate job ownership and to manage tax compliance process from start to finish
  • In depth knowledge of ASC 740 and FIN 48 as related to multinational organizations
  • Experience researching foreign tax issues, including the ability to analyze the issues and to clearly communicate the conclusions both orally and in writings
  • Familiarity with indirect taxes such as GST, VAT, and foreign sales and use tax to support the company’s indirect tax group
  • Above average organizational skills and ability to follow standardized workpaper formats.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Spanish/Japanese speaking a plus

Technical Skills


Skill and comfort in working in an automated/paperless environment.  Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.).  Prior experience with OneSOURCE Income Tax Express RS, OneSOURCE Tax Provision software, and/or CCH tax research software is highly preferred.
