The primary purpose of the Data Analyst is to oversee the development and automation of key performance indicators for the Pattern fleet, including asset downtime accountability, lost energy & lost revenue calculations, and other performance metrics, as well as to support the Operations team through various analytics and data science approaches. This role requires cross functional interaction across the company, while managing the oversight of multiple data platforms & software.  This role will develop an understanding of how renewable systems function and develop the skills to identify asset underperformance and reliability issues.

Key Accountabilities

The key responsibilities will include the following:

  • Leverage contractors, service providers and other internal resources to create sustainable and reliable solutions for Pattern Operations’ needs.
  • Work in cross functional teams for requirements gathering for new solutions and existing system improvements for an international organization that finds the best solution given business constraints.
  • Manage and further develop Pattern Operations’ fleet management and reporting software platform (Ekho), including its backend SQL database and processes.
  • Develop analytics tools, reports, and dashboards using Tableau BI and SSRS reporting software.
  • Perform ad hoc studies as needed relating to fleet performance, equipment reliability, and root cause analysis.
  • Assist with engineering studies related to wind and solar asset improvements (such as design changes and retrofit solutions) as well as to operations and maintenance improvements (condition monitoring systems, drone inspection technologies, lightning analytics, etc).


EDUCATION/Experience/Qualifications Required


Educational Experience


A bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics/statistics, physics, or engineering OR demonstration of equivalent work experience is required as a minimum.


Work Experience


  • 2+ years' experience in computer programming or advanced data analysis automation. (College Work, internships or part time work may qualify)
  • Data Science background preferred but not required.
  • Wind power operations or Electric Utility operations preferred but not required

  • Strong technical capabilities and a creative, curious, self-driven work ethic
  • Ability to work well in and/or lead cross functional teams
  • Ability to travel (Up to 10% travel)


Technical Skills


  • Demonstrated programming skills with software applications, databases, and historians.
  • Demonstrated excellence and ability to learn new programming skills and languages.
  • Familiarity with SCADA systems (particularly in electrical utility applications).
  • Data Science knowledge in Python, R, Matlab or other statistical based languages.
  • Ability to occasionally perform physical requirements including standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, twisting, reaching, and climbing at project locations in order to install or inspect equipment.
  • Ability to read and understand plans, specifications, drawings, and documents relating to computers and data systems.
  • Ability to quickly assess emergency situations and requirements and to develop and implement appropriate action plans
