Responsibilities

JOB PURPOSE

Maximize value in the development, construction and operations project phases, by crafting, negotiating and executing complex renewable energy supply and service transactions.

Key Accountabilities

The key responsibilities will include, as a minimum, the following:

  • Negotiate and manage large power generation equipment and service transactions for wind, solar, storage and transmission projects
    • Lead analysis and evaluation of supplier product options and make recommendations for supplier and product selections
    • Commercial negotiation on power generation, transmission and services purchases, including managing the interface with legal, development, operations, finance and technical personnel.
    • Manage inventory and allocation of wind turbines procured by Pattern for qualification of projects pursuant to the Production Tax Credit (PTC)
  • Primary interface with suppliers for renewable energy generation equipment
    • Stay abreast of new technology and product development to inform the organization about trends and product options
    • Develop price benchmarks and forecasts to inform the organization on market trends and shifts, including the PTC, ITC and other legislation that impact the energy markets
    • Support Pattern’s development and financing activities, through interfacing with power generation and transmission equipment providers that may participate in Pattern projects
    • Manage RFP process, when applicable, for power generation and transmission equipment and services
    • Integrate procurement and vendor interface into the development and financing efforts, including:
      • Determining equipment configuration for the project
      • Leading technical diligence relating to equipment and project suitability, including liaising between lenders’ IEs and suppliers
      • Flanging equipment procurement contracts to development and construction requirements
    • Facilitate contract management and improve contract execution by construction and operations
      • Facilitate implementation and management of power generation contracts
      • Facilitate process-improvement for contract management and compliance
      • Develop and manage technical and administrative infrastructure to manage contracts
    • Leverage Pattern’s major equipment supplier relationships and expertise on new unit service contracts to support Pattern’s operations business
      • Support operations in interpreting, enforcing, amending, or resolving disputes under equipment supplier service contracts
      • Advise on market terms for service contracts and support operations negotiations of aftermarket service contracts
      • Lead company-wide equipment supplier management issues, in order to promote and maintain consistency across projects

 

Qualifications

Experience/Qualifications/Education Required

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience.
  • BS in Engineering or Finance.
  • Ability to read, write and negotiate contracts.
  • Experienced in financial analysis and capital budgeting 

Additional Requirements

  • MBA preferred.
  • Wind energy or commercial energy operations background preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Technical Skills:

  • Facility with typical computer software (Microsoft Word, Excel, Project and PowerPoint)
  • Familiarity with power generation and energy markets.
