Responsibilities

Job Purpose:

 

The Procurement Manager will work within the Purchasing Department and is responsible for all major purchases of goods and services required for the development and operation of Pattern Energy’s wind and solar generation facilities and head-office functions in the USA, Canada and South America.

Key Accountabilities

The key responsibilities will include the following:

  • Develop purchasing strategy and plans in close coordination with internal customers within the Operations, Corporate and Development business units
  • Understand Scope of Work, Technical Specifications and other business requirements for the purchase of goods and/or services
  • Prepare bid packages and publish Requests for Proposal (RFPs) as necessary. Analyze supplier responses.
  • Negotiate price and commercial terms and conditions with suppliers for all major purchase of goods and services required by business units and corporate functions. Draft the initial contract documenting the transaction.
  • Work in close collaboration with Legal Department to obtain review and approval of the legal terms and conditions for all purchase transactions
  • Manage relationships with existing suppliers and develop relationships and opportunities with potential new suppliers
  • Work in close coordination with the other team members within Pattern Energy to leverage company-wide synergies and relationships with key suppliers.
  • Develop and maintain procurement systems and processes
  • Create master/framework arrangements with vendors that can be used for repeat ‘call-off’ orders for commonly-used goods and services
  • Prepare bid packages and publish Requests For Proposals (RFPs) as necessary
  • Analysis of supplier RFP responses and submittal of award recommendations to management
  • Actively participate and contribute to cross-functional and inter-company project teams on business improvement projects.
  • Continuous learning and development of knowledge and understand of procurement methods, commodities, service categories, general business conditions and the renewable energy industry to drive innovation and continuous improvement
  • Provide training and day-to-day support on procurement systems, policy and processes for business unit and/or corporate staff involved in purchasing activities
  • Adhere to, and monitor compliance with, company purchasing policy and procedures and transact all business with the highest standards of integrity, ethics and professional conduct
  • Other special projects as assigned

 

Qualifications

Experience/Qualifications/Education Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business or Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years’ experience as it relates to the job description.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of procurement systems, software and methods.
  • Ability to maintain accurate documentation and record keeping in electronic and hard copy.
  • Ability to apply analytical skills to evaluate supplier proposals and pricing
  • Proven experience in negotiating contracts for equipment and services.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication, negotiation, and influencing skills.
  • Excellent organizational and forward-planning abilities in order to pro-actively meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Advanced level of proficiency with computer applications including spreadsheets, word processing and ERP systems such as Microsoft Dynamics AX.
