Responsibilities

JOB PURPOSE

Provide oversite and leadership to the project execution staff constructing the facilities Pattern has developed around the globe. Successfully deliver the projects meeting the safety, quality, cost and schedule goals of the company.  Coach, mentor and build the staff necessary to successfully execute the projects.  Provide technical leadership and commercial leadership for tough issues that arise during the course of the projects.

Key Accountabilities

The key responsibilities will include as a minimum the following:

  • Execute the construction of the projects meeting or exceeding the safety goals of the company. Establish a culture with the project teams, contractors and suppliers to complete projects injury free.
  • Execute the construction of the projects meeting or exceeding the quality goals of the group. Develop and perpetuate a culture of continuous improvement with the group and the project sites. Lead root cause analysis of major warranty and reliability issues that arise out of the projects.
  • Develop and implement cost and scheduling management tools to monitor and manage the project.
  • Work with the development, preconstruction and procurement groups to ensure lessons learned are captured, best practices are implemented and there is a seamless transition from development to construction.
  • Work with operations to ensure proper handover of the completed facilities.
  • Work with finance and legal groups to ensure compliance with the lender, offtake and interconnection agreements.
  • Serve as a lead commercial negotiator for construction contracts working with the group’s attorney as well as the assigned project manager.
  • Work with procurement to ensure the scope of supply meets the needs of the project.
  • Serve as an ambassador to the industry fostering key relationships with engineering firms, key suppliers and contractors.
  • Manage, coach and mentor the team to foster team member engagement and career advancement.

Qualifications

Educational Experience

  • Ten to fifteen years progressive responsible experience in the power industry with significant construction experience in the renewable energy or power delivery markets.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in construction management or engineering.
  • Demonstrated ability to complete multi-million dollar construction projects safely with high quality, on schedule and within budget. Field experience desirable.

Additional Requirements

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and resolve multiple issues on multiple projects under demanding schedule constraints.
  • Thorough understanding of construction contract concepts, language and terms.
  • Knowledge of engineering concepts in the area of heavy civil, structural, mechanical and/or power delivery
  • Willing to travel 30-50% of time including international travel.

Technical Skills

  • Facility with typical computer software (Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, P6, and PowerPoint)
